The initiative aims to encourage donations from individuals, companies, and organizations and plays a fundamental role in showing that everyone can participate, strengthening the habit of giving as part of people’s daily lives. Nonprofit organizations, in turn, can carry out campaigns to receive donations, either online or in person.

The expectation is that millions of people across the country will be encouraged to engage in acts of generosity, creating a major wave of solidarity. In the 2021 edition, a year also marked by the COVID-19 pandemic, Giving Day generated more than R$2.3 million in online donations. In total, more than 23 million people were reached through social media.

How did Giving Day come about?

Giving Day is part of a global movement called #GivingTuesday (Tuesday of giving). The initiative took place for the first time in the United States in 2012 and is always held on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, as a response of solidarity to Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

In Brazil, the first edition took place in 2013, and the following year the country officially joined the global movement. Led by ABCR, Giving Day is part of the Movimento por uma Cultura de Doação network and, this year, has the Instituto Mol as a partner.

How can you donate to Fundação 1Bi?

Our programs, such as AprendiZAP and 1Bi Labs, are offered free of charge to students and teachers in the public school system and to social leaders who work every day to find ways to strengthen the communities in which they operate. To do this, we rely on donations from people and institutions that believe technology can contribute to improving education in Brazil.

Did you know that for every R$7.00 donated, you help a teacher or student use AprendiZAP free of charge?

There are two ways for individuals to donate to Fundação 1Bi. The first is through the Benfeitoria platform. Simply access this link and choose an amount to contribute.

The other way is by accessing the iFood app. Simply go to your profile, scroll down, click on "Donations," and choose Fundação 1Bi.
